Three Alabama football players named national award semifinalists on Tuesday

 

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide returned to the field on Tuesday for a two-hour practice at Thomas-Drew Practice Fields, completing its first of three workouts during the bye week.

 

Alabama is enjoying its second break in play this weekend following a 48-7 victory over Arkansas last Saturday. Alabama is now preparing for its matchup with SEC west rival LSU. The Tide and Tigers will square off at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on Nov. 9.

 

Mid-Season Honors

 

Three Alabama football players were announced as semifinalists for two different college football awards on Tuesday. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy have been named semifinalists for the Maxwell Award while defensive back Xavier McKinney was tabbed as a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award, both of which are presented by the Maxwell Football Club.

 

Semifinalist voting for both of the collegiate awards presented by the Maxwell Football Club will begin on Wednesday Oct. 30 and will close on Nov. 24. Three finalists for each award will be announced on Nov. 25 and a second round of voting will take place at that time. The winners of the 83rd Maxwell Award and the 25th Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show presented by Gildanwhich will be broadcast live on ESPN on Dec. 12, 2019.
