Former Alabama players provide solid performances on both sides of the ball

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 10th week of the 2018-19 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week 10 by former Crimson Tide players currently playing in the NFL.

Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones reached the end zone for the second consecutive week, part of his seven-catch, 107-yard performance in the Falcons’ loss to the Cleveland Browns. The impressive performance moved Jones into the league lead for receiving yards while also helping him to become the quickest wide receiver to surpass 10,000 career receiving yards, accomplishing the feat in just 104 games to break Calvin Johnson’s previous record of 115 games.

The Crimson Tide’s former Heisman Trophy winners each posted strong efforts for their respective teams. Derrick Henry carried the ball 11 times for 58 yards with a pair of touchdown runs, marking the third consecutive week he has scored on the ground. Henry’s effort helped the Tennessee Titans defeat the New England Patriots, 34-10. Mark Ingram II also contributed in a huge way for the New Orleans Saints in their 51-14 rout of the Cincinnati Bengals. Ingram carried 13 times for 104 yards while adding three receptions for 58 yards and a receiving score.

Three of Alabama’s former safeties put up big stats this past week to help their respective teams to a victory. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (Washington Redskins) tallied eight total tackles, a pass breakup and recovered a fumble, while Eddie Jackson (Chicago Bears) recorded six tackles and broke up a pass. Joining the group was Landon Collins (New York Giants), who led his team in tackles with nine.

Two other former Alabama defenders also contributed in their team’s winning effort this past week. Linebacker Reggie Ragland (Kansas City Chiefs) recorded six tackles in the Chiefs’ 26-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, and linebacker Mark Barron (Los Angeles Rams) matched Ragland with six tackles of his own in the Rams’ 36-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

A pair of former Tide stars also saw action with Buffalo in the Bills’ 41-10 win over the New York Jets. Cornerback Levi Wallace earned his first start after being activated off the Bills’ practice squad and finished with a pass breakup and one tackle in his NFL debut. Wide receiver Robert Foster caught three passes for 105 yards in the win over Buffalo’s downstate rival.
