Deionte Thompson and Quinnen Williams named to Bednarik Award Watch List on Wednesday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team held it second full-pad practice of the week today, working for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on Wednesday afternoon. The session was the third of the week as the team prepares to face Missouri in UA’s annual Homecoming game on Saturday.
ESPN will air this weekend’s meeting with the Tigers from Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6:05 p.m. CT Saturday, Oct. 13, with Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay on the call.
Alabama leads the all-time series with Missouri, 3-2, and has won the last three meetings between the two programs. The Crimson Tide defeated MU, 42-13, in the 2014 SEC Championship Game in their most-recent encounter.
Alabama defensive back Deionte Thompson and defensive lineman Quinnen Williams have been added to the Bednarik Award Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club of Philadelphia announced Wednesday.
Thompson leads the Crimson Tide in tackles this season with 36 stops, 23 of which are solo, and shares the team lead with two interceptions. Williams is the top tackler on the UA defensive front with 22 tackles and is tied for second on the squad with 5.5 tackles for loss (-18 yards).
The duo join linebackers Anfernee Jennings and Mack Wilson and defensive lineman Raekwon Davis on the Bednarik list. Jennings, Wilson and Davis were named to the preseason watch list in July.
