The junior is one of 12 semifinalists for the 49th edition of the award

 

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr. was selected as a semifinalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award, the Rotary Club of Houston announced on Tuesday.

 

Anderson Jr. is one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award. Alabama has had two winners in program history including Jonathan Allen (2016) and Cornelius Bennett (1986). The Lombardi is presented annually to the college football offensive or defensive lineman who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Famer Vince Lombardi.

 

Four finalists will be announced on Nov. 17 with the winner of the 49th Rotary Lombardi Award being named live on Dec. 7 in Houston, Texas.

  • A dominant presence off the edge for the Crimson Tide
  • Ranks atop the SEC and is tied for seventh in Division I in tackles for loss with 12 (-49 yards)
  • Also contributed six sacks (-32 yards) as part of his 36 total stops this season
  • Leads UA with 10 quarterback hurries while adding a blocked field goal and one interception which he returned 25 yards for a touchdown
