Mac Jones named National Quarterback of the Week honor for second time this season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide put in two hours of full-pads work at the Thomas-Drew Practice fields Wednesday afternoon as the Tide continued to refine its game plan for Saturday’s game with LSU.

Also on Wednesday, Mac Jones was named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week for week 13, becoming the first player to claim the honor twice this season. Jones previously received the accolade in week seven.

Last Saturday, Jones led Alabama past No. 22 Auburn, 42-13, by throwing for 302 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. The five touchdown passes tied the Iron Bowl record. Overall, he was 18-for-26 passing and averaged 16.8 yards per completion, including four touchdown passes of more than 20 yards.

This week, the product of Jacksonville, Fla., also earned Co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors and was one of 35 players named to the official Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2020.
