Three on offense, two on defense and four on special teams earned the weekly recognition

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama coaching staff selected nine players of the week following last Saturday’s 52-3 win at Arkansas in the Tide’s regular-season finale. Miller Forristall, Alex Leatherwood and Brian Robinson Jr. on offense; Jaylen Moody and Byron Young on defense; and DeMarcco Hellams, Josh Jobe, Drew Sanders and DeVonta Smith on special teams earned the recognition for their play in Fayetteville.

 

OFFENSE

Miller Forristall

  • Led all Crimson Tide receivers with six catches totaling 52 yards
  • Converted a first down for UA on three of his receptions
  • Added one tackle on punt coverage

 

Alex Leatherwood

  • Graded out at 100 percent on his assignments and did not commit a penalty
  • Did not allow a sack or a quarterback pressure as Mac Jones completed 24 of his 29 passes on the day
  • Cleared a path to allow the Crimson Tide to average 5.7 yards per carry on the ground

 

Brian Robinson Jr.

  • Had a huge day in Fayetteville, rushing for a career-high and team-best three touchdowns
  • Totaled 13 rushes for 54 yards to go with the three scores
  • Contributed to the Tide’s six total rushing touchdowns, the second-most for UA this season
  • Added four receptions for 22 yards in the passing game
  • Also returned one kickoff for a 10-yard gain

 

DEFENSE

Jaylen Moody

  • Filled in for an injured Christian Harris who was sidelined during the first Arkansas drive of the day
  • Put together an impressive performance in relief, tying for the team-high total with seven tackles, including half a tackle for loss (-2 yards)
  • Responsible for two turnovers, forcing one fumble and recovering another

 

Byron Young

  • Matched Moody with a team-high seven tackles, including half a tackle for loss (-3 yards)
  • Added half a sack (-2 yards) as part of the Tide’s season-high eight sacks on the day
  • Also recovered a fumble on Moody’s forced fumble

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

DeMarcco Hellams

  • Played a key role on a Tide coverage unit that allowed just 18 yards on kickoff returns

Josh Jobe

  • Made a huge stop on kickoff coverage to put the Razorbacks in unfavorable field position

 

Drew Sanders

  • Helped the Alabama special teams unit limit any big returns by Arkansas

 

DeVonta Smith

  • Added to his Heisman resume with an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown
  • The score was part of his three returns and 111 combined yards on punts
  • Added three catches for 22 yards as the Tide spent most of the day running the ball
